JAMMU: KC International School celebrated its eighth Annual Day function ‘SPARK 2014’ with enthusiasm at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu was the Chief Guest in the function of the junior Wing which was organised on theme ‘Learning Right Future Bright’.
For Seniors Wing programme organised on the theme ‘The Saga of Human Civilisation’, Padmashree awardee, Balwant Thakur, was the Chief Guest.
The function began with lighting of traditional lamp by Chief Guest followed by Saraswati Vandana presented by students.
The theme ‘The Saga of Human Civilisation’ was portrayed through the Shiv Tandav and five elements of the earth. The four major civilisations of the Egyptians, the Romans, the Cholas and the Indus Valley people were depicted, through dance, drama and tableau. The timeline of Indian History was also traced until the present day and age.
The other highlights of the programme were the drama Julius Caesar and Akbar, the Great. The programme concluded with prayer through a poem -Where The Mind Is Without Fear by Rabindranath Tagore.
The Principal of the School, Dr. Ravi Bhushan presented the report highlighting the achievements of the school in academic as well as co-curricular activities.
Vote of Thanks was presented by the Vice Chairman, Chaitanya Chowdhary who also spoke about future ventures which the school would be taking up.
Prize distribution ceremony was also organized in which the meritorious students were given prizes. Special prizes were given to Sahil and Mamta along with winner team of Sur Sangam, a voyage of political arena to Manmita and her students and for best teacher award Neelam Dadwal. Neelam Jasrotia, Priyanka, Reena Sharma, Rajni Malhotra and Shifali Bhakri were awarded prizes for the cleanest class.
The programme was conceptualized by Coordinators Kesar Patel and Neetu Singh and activity coordinator of KC International School, Madhu Abrol.
