Kavinder releases Prof Harban’s book ‘Amrita’

JAMMU: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta on Saturday released a book written by Prof. Harbans Singh, Chairman Guru Nanak College of Education, Jallochack.
This book is a novel based on the life of real Iron lady named ‘Amrita’ who did so many sacrifices in her life from beginning to end.
The book release function was organised in Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public Higher Secondary School Kunjwani, here.
Others present were Davinder Singh Vishav Nagrik Pardhan Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Jammu, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn Additional Secretary J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Baljeet Raina, C.S Toor and Special Guest, Surinder Singh Seerat from California.
Prof. Harbans Singh is a prominent personality of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha and this is his third book edition.
The welcome address was given by Administrator Charanjeet Kour.
The function started with the book reading by Davinder Singh Vishav Nagrik who threw light on the novel Amrita and wished Prof. Harbans Singh a great success for his beautiful story depicted in words. Dr. Baljeet Raina also threw light on the book.
Kavinder also shared his views on the book and encouraged Prof. Harbans Singh and praised his hard work and dedication towards Punjabi Sahitya.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir is a treasure trove of various languages and dialects and Punjabi language forms an integral part of this milieu.
The Speaker remarking on lack of teaching of Punjabi language in schools said that there should be options open for students to be able to take up Punjabi as an additional language. He said he will take up the matter with the concerned.
The function concluded with vote of thanks presented by Prof. Harbans Chairman Guru Nanak College of Education, Jallochak.
