KATRA: The 18th edition of the historic Kanta International Indian Style Maha Dangal shall witness highest ever Rs three lakh bout at SMVDSB Sports Stadium, here on October 22.
This was disclosed by the organising secretary of the mega event at the holy town, Shiv Kumar Sharma saying that the top two bouts shall have Rs five lakh prize money in men section.
The day-long most popular sports event of the Union Territory shall have 21 bouts (fights) in men section and two exclusive women contests between budding talent of the country. The women bouts shall have a price tag of Rs 90,000.
Dangal shall be held under the overall supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma, who happens to be president of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Other prominent members of the organising committee are Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu).
“Three prominent foreign wrestlers contesting in this Kanta Dangal are Ahmed Mirza and Reza of Iran and Tedo of Georgia. The main bout is mostly probable shall be played between the foreign wrestlers, who have already confirmed their participation,” informed Shiv Kumar.
The expensive sports event is being organised by Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K Police, J&K Bank Limited, NHPC, PWD and Divisional Administration of the J&K Government.
