KATHUA CASE! Investigative reporting demolishes CB charge-sheet: Ankur Sharma
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: With Kathua rape and murder case getting yet another sensational twist, Defence lawyer Ankur Sharma, who is representing five of the eight accused on Tuesday claimed the recent expose by a national TV news channel has clearly exposed the ‘botched up’ investigation by the Crime Branch Special Investigation Team.
Sharma alleged the investigation has been ‘politically’ motivated and based on fabricated evidences to target members of a particular community.
Talking to reporters here, Ankur Sharma said only a professional investigation by a central agency can deliver justice to the minor girl.
Ankur Sharma claimed if any central agency (CBI or NIA) would take up investigations in the case the entire mystery surrounding the case would be unraveled and the culprits will be identified.
He congratulated the team of the national TV channel for working on the story and bringing startling facts to light, which demolish the theory of Crime Branch team. He said some time divine intervention plays a significant role and in this case too thousands of people are standing with the families of accused because they know Crime Branch has carried out investigation with a motive to frame them. Sharma said the investigation was not only motivated but a very well planned politically-motivated conspiracy.
Referring to the motive behind targeting residents of village Rassana, Ankur Sharma alleged it is part of the bigger conspiracy to effect demographic change in the area by driving out locals belonging to a particular community and to facilitate infiltration from across the border with a sinister objective of building a safe hide-out for infiltrators.
Sharma said due to village Rassana’s proximity with a ‘Nallah’, which flows directly in to Pakistan border and the dense forests connecting with Ramkot, the sympathisers of infiltrators may have hatched a conspiracy to drive these people out of the area as it falls on the same axis of a traditional infiltration route.
Referring to the expose on the TV channel, Ankur Sharma said the charge sheet by the Jammu and Kashmir police mentions that Vishal Jangotra, one of the main accused was in Kathua on 15th of January and he helped dispose-off the child’s body. The charge sheet also mentions that Vishal Jangotra left for Meerut on the evening of 15th of January by train from Ghagwal. He said in contrast to this the investigation by the TV channel shows CCTV footage from a SBI ATM in Meerut, where Vishal Jangotra is clearly seen in an ATM queue withdrawing money on 15th of January at 3 PM.
He said if the footage produced by the TV channel is genuine, then the charge sheet is a monstrous lie and a young man is being framed to suit someone’s political agenda.
