Kashmir unrest result of PDP-BJP Govt’s failure: Mir

LEH: Congress on Wednesday launched scathing attack on the Narendra Modi Government, State coalition government and BJP run LAHDC Leh accusing them of failing to fulfill the promises made during the elections.
Chairing a daylong convention organized by District Congress Committee Leh here at Deskitsal Community Hall, Pradesh Congress Committee President G.A. Mir in the presence of CLP leader and MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLAs from Kashmir Valley Gulzar Ahmed and Haji Rashid, MLA Nubra Deldan Namgyal, former Chairman LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar, former MLC Norbu Gyaltsan, Congress Councillors and over five hundred party workers, alleged that
ongoing turmoil in Kashmir valley is a result of failure of PDP-BJP coalition.
Nawang Rigzin Jora accused Modi government of being pro-corporate and anti-common man. He also blamed it for dividing the country on different grounds. He said there is no space for the minorities in the country in the reign of BJP government. Jora asserted that Congress will for surely make a comeback.
Rigzin Spalbar accused BJP of using the demand of UT status to garner votes. “Nitin Gadkari promised UT within six months before Lok Sabha elections,” he said. Referring to expulsion of PDP District president for signing the UT memorandum, Spalbar asked why people’s aspirations cannot be raised. “We will continue to fight for our demand for UT but we will not use it for political purposes. Why can’t we raise the demand for UT status when demand for Azadi is being raised vehemently?” He questioned.
Deldan Namgyal accused MP Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang for keeping mum on UT demand in the parliament where it matters. He accused J and K Assembly speaker for being an RSS man claiming that a bill moved by Nawang Rigzin Jora regarding reservation in promotions was not accepted by him.
Deldan also criticised Deputy Chief Minister for his denial to raise the scale of ration for Ladakh.
Former Executive Councillor Shafi Lasu suggested that secular parties need to work together to root out BJP from the country. He said it was because of lack of coordination between secular parties that lead to the victory of BJP in the last Lok Sabha polls.
Appreciating Jora’s capability and efficiency, Mir said Jora is a potential leader for Chief Ministerial candidate if situation demanded under the present circumstances. “Choosing as CLP leader itself is a projection for the Chief Minister’s post,” Mir said.
President DCC Tsering Samphel recalled the contribution made by the party in the development of Ladakh.
Congress leaders slammed LAHDC Leh for carrying out undue transfers of doctors, engineers and police officers. They also criticised the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and hike in the cost on LPG cylinders. “All the projects started in Ladakh during Congress’ regime have been put on halt for petty political reason,” they alleged.
Councillor Korzok Gyurmet Dorje, former Executive Councillor and working President DCC Leh Abass Abidi, President Youth Congress Tsering Namgyal, former ECs Sonam Dorje, former Councillor Tashi Angmo, President Mahila Mandal Rinchen Dolkar, President Youth Congress (Woman Wing) Eshey Angmo, former Councillor Rinchen Tundup and former Sarpanch Angchuk Ney also spoke in the convention.
