Kashmir teams lose ties to Jammu in football

JAMMU: The local clubs and teams representing District Football Associations (DFAs) from Jammu dominated the opening day of the 25th State Football Championship winning five of the six scheduled matches played against their counterparts from Kashmir at GGM Science College Ground, here on Saturday. Except one such game wherein Engineers XI awarded walkover DFA Reasi, remained matched decided on field.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Param Sports defeated DFA Kulgam 2-1 while DFA Kathua outplayed Pattan Zone XI via tie-breaker.
In another scheduled match, DFA Kupwara defeated DFA Ramban 3-2 and Musa Club Jammu trounced DFA Shopian 2-0. In the last game of the
day, Churchill Brothers Jammu outplayed DFA Ladakh 1-0.
In all, 45 matches shall be played among 46 registered clubs and those teams of the district associations (DFAs) during the fortnight-long competition. Meanwhile, the JKFA has termed the denial of permission to the professional departmental teams of J&K Bank, J and K Forests and AG Office to compete in the event as great setback.
