JAMMU: Even as alibi was yet to come from Muzaffar Wani over his controversial meeting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in his Bengaluru based Art of Living Ashram in the midst of violent protests in Kashmir over the killing of his terrorist son, Burhan Wani, many Pak apologists and Azadi dreamers had jumped back home to offer clarifications. Many must have believed these even before the elder Wani came up with his own tell-tale. In the past 27 years, the Valley has developed a character of living in a make-believe world and, therefore, it is very convenient for terror-executers to sell whatever they deem appropriate to remain relevant to the situation.
Muzaffar Wani has cooked up a story, loose one, scripted by some of the terror-crony. The story line goes saying, “I am a principal, a common man and no leader. I am diabetic and had gone there for treatment. He (Sri Sri) took a picture with me. I took pictures with 500 people. I met and talked to him for five minutes or so at the most. He asked me about my children and came back with some medicines for myself. That is all”. But ‘this is not just all’! His defence writer fails to justify how the father of ‘Shaheed-e-Azam’ could take 500 pictures with jet-speed in just five minutes in the Ashram. Anyway, the Art of Living has tormented into bits and pieces Wani’s defence.
Muzaffar Wani will have to justify his Bengaluru sojourn to the parents of 71 young people in the current spate of Intifada, who, (un)like him, were feeling pride in sending their dear ones to heaven. This is the motivation Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief, hawkish Syed Ali Shah Geelani, so-called moderate Mirwaiz Umar and many other Hurriyat separatists are dispensing to young children of Kashmir, notwithstanding their own sons preferring to remain in this ‘materialistic world’ rather than enjoying the rewards being bestowed in ‘Jannat’. Pseudo secularists, activists and non-BJP politicians across the country need to have some sort of introspection over defending  Kashmiri terrorists and double agents as innocents. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also needs to explain through his tweet as to what the ‘youth icon’s’ father was doing in Bengaluru Ashram.
While composing their reactions, the terror apologists must not ignore the statement issued by Art of Living, minutes after Muzaffar Wani tried to give an unconvincing alibi. The statement read, “Muzaffar Wani was in the ashram for two days. Certainly, Sri Sri and Wani discussed about the current situation, about the suffering and how peace and normalcy can be restored in the Valley. It was purely on a personal and humanitarian angle.” Will Muzaffar Wani explain what humanitarian angle he discussed with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar?
The tragedy of Kashmir is that those glamourising deaths of their near and dear ones as ‘martyrdom’ generally end up either in getting ex-gratia relief or jobs under SRO 43. Kin of some JKLF terrorists in early nineties are known to have benefitted immensely by raising funds for setting up NGOs and launching other avocations with liberal donations from various agencies and individuals. While many stand exposed through their pompous living, some still remain behind veils to accrue benefit of the ‘martyrdom’ of their children.
Deliberate leak about high-profile meet between Muzaffar Wani and Sri Sri (believed to be Track-II emissary) has raised several questions, with many in Kashmir asking answers (about exposure of the so-called martyrdom of Burhan). However, fear of gun and backlash of the Pak sponsored stone pelters and their mentors are serving as a deterrent to shut mouths. A churning is nonetheless going on in the Valley as to why only poor vendors or daily wagers son need to rehabilitate martyrs’ grave-yards and those eulogising their martyrdom by way of crying hoarse over human rights violations, posting flavoury write-ups in social and mainstream media, holding seminars, joining television chat-rooms, keep flourishing their enterprises to become elite of the Valley.
The common people in Kashmir are not oblivion to the fact about mushroom growth of neo-riches in their neighborhood. They also know how a Maulana from remote village of north Kashmir came to the capital city and became trend setter by issuing diktats from his palatial Hyderpora residence. They also wonder how a young Mirwaiz manages to live a king-size life, move around in luxurious SUVs and travels continents despite having no known source of income. They sadly know how several parents have sold each drop of the blood of their ‘martyred sons’ during 27 years’ movement to secede Kashmir from India.
