JRC Home starts Smart Class for hearing impaired

JAMMU: The JRC Home for Handicapped, Udheywala, introduced digital education by installing first ever Smart Class in J and K for hearing impaired inmates of the institution.
Donated by Extra Marks Education Foundation, the multimedia based facility will go a long way to strengthen the understanding of fundamental concepts. Extra Marks Smart Class was inaugurated by the former HoD, Computer Science Department of University of Jammu, Prof Lalit Magotra in the presence of Nidhi Soni, Manager Extra Marks Education Foundation, Chhatrapal, Honorary Secretary of JRC Home and hearing impaired children of JRC Special School.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Magotra said that technology based education for specially-abled children would empower and serve them better to make them future ready.
“Extra Marks Education Foundation has arranged Smart Class along with curriculum-aligned multimedia quality digital contents in Hindi and English from classes KG to 12 which will be available for 36 months for unlimited usage. EEF has also arranged the training sessions for the teachers of JRC,” Nidhi Soni said. Poonam Singh Jamwal, CEO Extra Marks Education Foundation expressed hope that digital classroom set up will help the specially-abled children at JRC Home to access to the best learning solutions, which will vastly help improve their learning abilities. EEF will also train the staff and senior inmates of the home to teach with digital tools, she added. Maj Gen, V.S Lalotra, Advisor Extra Marks Education Foundation said, “Pehal is an initiative of EEF which has already benefitted 10,000 learners from underserved population.”
Satish Sharma, Joint Secretary JRC, social activist Vikas Deewan, Ashutosh Sharma, CEO ICDRC, M.G Padha, Dr Sukhpal Sawhney, Shaka Syal, Neena Rishi and Pritam Singh were also present.
