SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a charge-sheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, in connection with a job scam case registered under FIR No. 13/2023 under Section 420 IPC.
The charge-sheet has been filed against accused Ghulam Nabi Hudda, son of Mohammad Hudda, a resident of Satakchay, Kargil, presently residing at Gasiyar Hawal, Zadibal, Srinagar. The case originated from a written complaint alleging that in 2021 the accused introduced himself as a high-ranking government officer and assured the complainant and others of securing government jobs in exchange for money.
Acting on these false assurances, the complainant deposited lakhs of rupees into the accused’s bank account in nine separate instalments. However, the accused neither arranged the promised government employment nor returned the money, thereby cheating the complainant.
Following the complaint, EOW Kashmir initiated a thorough investigation, during which the allegations were found to be prima facie substantiated. The probe established that the accused intentionally deceived the complainant, causing significant financial loss.
An EOW spokesperson said, “The investigation clearly revealed a well-planned act of cheating wherein the accused exploited the trust of job seekers by making false claims. EOW Kashmir remains committed to taking strict legal action against such fraudsters and safeguarding the interests of the public.”
Further proceedings in the case are underway.
