JMC demolishes unauthorisedly built ‘Trident’ flats

JAMMU: While continuing the drive against the unauthorised constructions, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) squad led by Commissioner Mandeep Kaur along with R S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A) and other senior officers demolished the Trident Flats at Channi Rama, Jammu on Saturday.
According to JMC, the flats construction was in gross violation of the building plans which was initially accorded for the construction of houses but the violators raised the multiple flats without the permission of JMC.
The entire flats premises was also sealed under section 8 (1) of J and K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation had already proceeded against the violators–son and wife of a retired DIG, under the provisions of J and K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988.
The demolition and sealing operation has been conducted with the help and active cooperation of police force from Police Station, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
The JMC had also given the public notice in the leading newspapers asking the general public not to purchase the flats in Trident being the unauthorised ones at Channi Rama near Nidheesh Apartment, Jammu.
As per the approved building bye laws-2011 the builder is required to get the completion/occupancy certificate from the Jammu Municipal Corporation before putting the building in use. The sewer/water/electricity connection shall be given to the builder by the respective departments only on the production of completion/occupancy certificate from JMC.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to the general public to refrain from raising unauthorised constructions failing which penal action would be taken which may lead to sealing/demolition of unauthorised constructions.
