JMC Commissioner flags off survey training under SLRM

JAMMU: In its endeavour to achieve Swachh Jammu Mission 2018, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Mandeep Kaur on Monday flagged off ten days survey training in the respective wards under Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) project.
The training programme was conducted by C. Srinivasan, Project Consultant, Indian Green Service and Resource Person for SLRM project from the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. The survey team assisted by Sanitary Inspectors and Sanitary Supervisors will conduct a comprehensive survey and collect details of all households, commercial establishments etc. The purpose of this project is waste management as the problem of waste has reached a state of crisis.
Commissioner, JMC alongwith Joint Commissioner (Adm) R.S Jamwal (KAS), Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Subah Mehta (Nodal Officer), Health Officer Dr. Saleem Khan, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Powergrid Corporation were also present.
Staff members of JMC also harvested two beds of compost prepared from dry leaves, twigs and garden waste. The beds were prepared in the month of April 2016 at Gandhi Nagar Floriculture Park as a part of Scientific Management of Garden Waste through composting as suggested in Solid and Liquid Resource Management. The Powergrid Corporation appreciated the work of JMC and purchased the first compost bed by paying Rs 30,000 towards the compost generated by the two beds there.
JMC appealed to the residents of Jammu city to cooperate in completion of door to door survey and provide complete information to the survey team and make this project a great success.
