J&KSSB conducts AA (Panchayat) exams smoothly across UT

JAMMU: J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB), under Accelerated Recruitment Drive, successfully conducted OMR-based objective type written test for selection of candidates to 1,889 posts of Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) in Department of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj on Tuesday from 12 Noon to 2 PM. These posts were advertised vide Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2020, dated July 6, 2020 with cut-off date August 31, 2020 for selection of candidates through competitive exam.
In total, 1.90 lakh candidates applied for these posts out of which 1.62 lakh candidates appeared for written test. 750 Examination Centres were set-up in all Districts across UT of J&K with maximum 173 Examination Centres in District Jammu and minimum 7 Examination Centres in District Shopian. This was the first examination conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board after formation of Union Territory and the single biggest examination, ever since JKSSB came into existence.
The written test was conducted smoothly, fairly and transparently with the active cooperation and support of District Administration of all districts of J&K UT including Police, Education, Health, Transport and other related departments. The Private Schools and Colleges also extended full cooperation in conduct of this examination. “It was a mammoth exercise and I am thankful to all role partners for their enormous cooperation. J&K SSB team worked relentlessly to conduct examination in 2 months from the receipt of application forms. The Deputy Commissioners and their team in the Districts extended fullest possible cooperation to J&KSSB in smooth and transparent conduct of this exercise. Security arrangements were elaborate and smooth movement of traffic was ensured by J&K Police. Transport Department kept public transport available. Education and Health Departments provided manpower and health facilities at each venue. Private educational institutions were also supportive in this endeavour,” said Chairman J&KSSB.
A multi layered structure for supervision was established with one Centre Observer and Centre Magistrate for each Examination Centre, in addition to the Center Superintendent. 700 Magistrates, 750 Centre Observers and 750 Centre Superintendents were deployed. In addition more than 7,918 Invigilators were also deployed for smooth conduct of the examination. To ensure transparency and fairness during examination process, Videography has been done at each centre. Besides, there was one General Observer appointed by the General Administration Department & Chief Inspector appointed by the respective District Magistrates to monitor the examination. Adequate security was also deployed at each Examination Centre by J&K Police for frisking and maintenance of law and order.
Elaborate arrangements were made by J&KSSB for preparation of the Examination Centres like pasting of Roll No Slips, Signages for facilitation of candidates and arrangement of seats in matrix of 6 X 4. Dedicated team for each Examination Centre was deployed with concerned Head of the Institution to conduct smooth and fair examination.
It was also endeavoured to the extent possible to allocate Examination Centres within native districts of the candidates. However, the Centre allocation was done on random basis for ensuring transparency and fairness in the aforesaid examination. For ensuring the conduct of examination in fair and transparent manner, all the District Magistrates had issued Prohibitory Orders under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) around Examination Centres during the timing of examination. SoPs under COVID-19 were also ensured during conduct of examination.
Chairman JKSSB has complimented efforts of all Deputy Commissioners, District SSPs, Staff of J&KSSB and other line departments like Education, Health & Private Educational Institutions for their support and cooperation for the smooth conduct of examination.
