JAMMU: JKSRTC Workers Union on Monday staged a demonstration against Government’s move to invite tenders from private operators for shipment of ration belonging to FCS and CA department.
The protest was led by Chairman JKSRTC Workers Union Wajahat Hussain, Vice-Chairman Ashok Mehra, President Paramjeet Singh, General Secretary Janak Raj Choudhary. They said that the JKSRTC is vital and essential organisation established by the Government with an idea to provide comfortable, cheap and safe transport facility to the people of J&K.
They alleged that some mischievous elements in connivance with FCS and CA officials and high profile people from State Government mislead the State Cabinet which in turn took a decision on 9th December 2016 inviting tenders from civil transporters for transportation of all important commodities of FCS and CA department for left over demand. “The step is against the Government promulgated SRO-157 which provides exclusive right to JKSRTC for transportation of FCS and CA Work. The Chief Minister is requested to rescind the aforesaid tenders to ensure that the SRO-157 is not diluted and the commitment of 300 new trucks for which MoU with J&K Bank has been signed by the SRTC should be considered”, they asserted adding that in case Government continued to sleep over the matter the JKSRTC Workers Union will intensify the protest.
