JAMMU: Educational trips create learning experiences that enables students to apply theoretical knowledge to the real world.
The students of JK Public School (JKPS) Panjtirthi visited the Directorate of Agriculture Department, Krishi Bhawan, Jammu to get first hand appraisal of agricultural activities undertaken by the Department of Agriculture for the welfare of farming.

The educational visit was organised with the consent of A.S Reen, the Director Agriculture Jammu with the cooperation of Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Deputy Director (Central).
A. S Reen expressed that youth should come forward to learn and adopt scientific agricultural skills for efficient use of resources and cultural operations to get sustainably higher yield and income.
He added, “More emphasis is required to be laid on the diversification of farming with focus on quality production through promotion of standard production practices, area specific organic farming. More opportunities for employment are being created through expansion of vegetable cultivation, apiculture and mushroom growing on scientific lines.”
The student visited different sections i.e mushroom farming, beekeeping & nursery. Technical guidance was provided by Agronomists, Assistant Entomologist.
The faculty of Agriculture Department briefed the Jakiians about activities and schemes to adopt latest technologies in farming to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income.
Lectures were delivered by the experts on different topics including mushroom growing, protected cultivation of vegetables, apiculture, role of women in agriculture, self help groups formation, vermi-composting and kitchen gardening. The group was also shown the Protected Vegetable cultivation, Vermi-compost structures, Pesticide Testing Lab, Soil Testing Lab and Quality Control Labs. They learned about modern farming techniques and how these practices contribute to the production of quality food, ensuring better nutritional value. The visit provided an enriching educational experience, offering the students profound insights into various facets of agriculture.
