Principal Rajesh Rathore addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Lohri as a symbol of unity, prosperity, and good harvest. He stated, “Lohri, one of the most vibrant and cherished festivals of our culture, brilliantly captures the ethos of joy, togetherness, and gratitude, marking the end of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days”.
“This festival is deeply rooted in our agricultural traditions and symbolizes prosperity, new beginnings, and the fruits of hard work. For our farmers, it is a celebration of their harvest, a moment to thank nature for its bounties, and to pray for a prosperous future. It reminds us of the importance of respecting and nurturing our environment, as it provides us with everything we need to thrive”, he added.
“Lohri also teaches us valuable lessons about unity and community. The bonfire, which is the heart of this festival, represents warmth, light, and the coming together of families and friends. It is a symbol of how, as a community, we can overcome challenges and create something meaningful when we stand together” he added further.
“As members of staff, you are the torchbearers of our culture and traditions. Celebrating festivals like Lohri in school helps us connect with our roots, understand the significance of our heritage, and imbibe the values of hard work, gratitude, and unity. Let us carry forward the essence of Lohri in our lives by being kind, hardworking, and appreciative of the blessings around us”, he summed up.
The event concluded with the distribution of traditional Lohri treats including peanuts and popcorn.
