JKPCC pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday paid tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom here.
While paying his tribute to Gandhi, JKPCC Vice President and former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma said that Gandhi played a major role in getting freedom for the country.
Sham said that Gandhi’s philosophy of non violence, peace and brotherhood is becoming more relevant with every passing day as the entire world looks towards Mahatma Gandhi for guidance.
Former minister cautioned the people against the communal and divisive forces who are bent upon to divide the society for their vested interest which goes against basic principle and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi who preached patience and religious tolerance which is fundamental to the security and integrity of the nation.
PCC Vice President, Raman Bhalla said Gandhi’s philosophy holds the key to peace and religious harmony in the World.
“Gandhi taught non-violence and tolerance to deal with all issues confronting the humanity,” he said and asked the countrymen to follow his principles to have peace and harmony.
Congress leaders also said that Mahatma Gandhi had seen a ray of hope in Kashmir because it maintained religious harmony when entire nation was in the grip of communal frenzy at the time of partition and asked partymen to take a pledge to spread and follow his philosophy and principles in day to day life.
Others present on the occasion were Mohd. Sharief Niaz (ex-ministers), PCC Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Manmohan Singh, Mahila Congress President Indu Pawar, Thakur Shiv Dev Singh (Ex-MLA); Anil Chopra President District Congress Committee Jammu(Urban), Shamsher Singh Chib, Shashi Sharma, Neeraj Gupta, Thomas Khokhar, Nirdosh Sharma, Sobha Singh, Surinder Gupta (all Secretaries).
