JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) Senior’s and Aircel XI won their scheduled matches to strengthen their positions in the Second JKP New Year Veteran Twenty20 Cup underway at Parade Ground, here on Sunday.
In the first match, JKP Seniors defeated Secretariat Seniors XI by a huge margin of 149 runs.
Batting first, JKP Seniors Club scored a big total of 223 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ishtiaq played brilliant cricket completing his century (110 runs, 5×6) while Manzoor made 49 runs. Yaqub took two wickets for Secretariat Seniors.
Later, Secretariat Seniors, could not achieve the target and was bowled out for 74 runs in 17.2 overs losing all wickets and lost the match by a huge margin. Sunil took three wickets while Shamsher bagged two for JKP. Ishtiaq was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant century in the match.
In the second match, Aircel Seniors XI scripted a fine 11 runs win against Evershine Seniors XI.
Aircel XI made 131 runs in 18 overs for five wickets with Anand Tripathi (40) and Rakesh (32) being main scorers .Hardeep , Parshotam and Narinder shared one wicket each for Evershine.
Evershine, in reply, could not chase the target and made 120 runs in the allotted 18 overs for five wickets. Rakesh was adjudged Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Saleem Ur Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod, Sunil and Danny.
Earlier, Rakesh Kumar Singh, Sales Head Aircel Jammu interacted with the teams as Special Guest.
