JKP donates 5 computers to Press Club

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday donated five computers and peripheral devices to Press Club Jammu as part of its Civic Action Programme.
The event was supervised by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Danesh Rana and was presided over by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta.
The function was also attended by SP City Vinod Kumar and SP Headquarters Jammu Ramesh Kotwal and other senior officers from JKP.
In his address, IGP Jammu said through civic action programme, JKP is endeavouring to provide infrastructural support to different people but it’s the first ever initiative to the extend the help to the media in Jammu.
He said that on the directions of the DGP K Rajindera, the gadgets were provided to the Press Club Jammu in the interest and welfare of the journalists so that they can avail the facility inside this prestigious institution.
The support will not only facilitate the Press Club to enhance the competency in the field of ever-expanding Information Technology but also help the journalists to file their stories.
The Civic Action Programme acts as a bridge between the police and the local people. The immediate necessary requirements of the populace are met through various programmes which are area specific and need based. Winning the hearts and minds is the basic essence of works undertaken during civic action.
The gesture of JKP was lauded by Press Club President Ashwani Kumar, who expressed gratitude for the act of police.
Ashwani said the initiative of the police would lead to develop better police-media relations.
By providing such kind of infrastructural support, the JKP is constantly trying to promote the standard of computer literacy, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General Press Club.
Dinesh Manhotra conducted the proceedings while Ajay Bachloo delivered the vote of thanks.
