UDHAMPUR: Scores of Panthers Party activists led by Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP on Friday protested against the BJP for its meek surrenders and blunders. The angry protestors gathered at Slathia Chowk in Udhampur and torched the effigy of the Saffron Party for giving assurance to the PDP for making Nepal route legal for the return of Kashmiri youth from PoK. The protestors further blocked Dhar Road which led to a heavy traffic jam for several hours. Mankotia, while talking to media, revealed that BJP was exposed for its dual standards as it vehemently opposed the rehabilitation policy for the militants earlier when they were in opposition and dubbed the same as anti-national policy. He reminisced that on 22nd November, 2010 when the policy was announced, BJP not only opposed the policy but vowed to fight it tooth and nail besides decrying the policy as dangerous and security threat for the country and J and K in particular. While expressing his resentment on the assurances given by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in New Delhi currently for legalising Nepal route for the safe return of Kashmiri youth from PoK, Mankotia raised a question mark on the credibility of the BJP at the Centre and the State. He said that a militant who had spent 18 to 20 years in Pakistan acquiring arms and ammunition training could not be trusted and should not be offered any concession.
He added that it would only be BJP which shall be held responsible in the case of any eventuality or untoward incident triggered by these militants in future. Mankotia further said that whole nation wanted to know from BJP that where was its nationalistic character when such obnoxious assurances were made to the PDP.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Sarpanch Sunil Gudda, Sarpanch Rafiq Chandel, Jagdev Singh Jagga, Sanjay Sharma, Amarnath Mehra and Ajay Singh Babloo.
