JKHCBA Jammu establishes war room for free legal aid to war victims, to hold blood donation camp

JAMMU: In light of the escalating situation at the Line of Control (LOC) and ongoing “Operation Sandoor,” the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBAJ, Jammu, in collaboration with prominent civil and trade bodies, held a joint press conference at the Jammu wing of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
The event was organized jointly by JKHCBAJ, Dogra Saddar Sabha, Chamber of Traders Federation, All J&K Transport Union, Brahman Sabha, and Amar Khastriya Rajput Sabha.

The leaders expressed grave concern over the recent spate of violence, particularly the terror attack on innocent tourists at Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which they identified as a triggering point of the present crisis.
K. Nirmal Kotwal, President of JKHCBAJ, stated that despite repeated diplomatic overtures, Pakistan has failed to curb terrorism originating from its soil. “The world now stands with India in this fight against terrorism.
A war-like situation has emerged, and our neighbor continues to target civilians, with over 15 deaths reported in Poonch and several others injured,” Kotwal said.
He praised the role of Indian soldiers defending the nation’s borders and appealed to all Bar Associations across Jammu and Kashmir to extend legal and humanitarian support. “The legal fraternity must stand firm with the country and support both the government and affected civilians,” he added.
As part of its commitment, JKHCBAJ announced it will hold a blood donation camp on May 9, 2025 (Friday) at the Court premises. Additionally, the Association has established a grievance cell to offer free legal assistance to verified victims of war.
Other participating organizations echoed similar resolutions, pledging assistance through their respective bodies. Office bearers from each organization are expected to provide further details of their support mechanisms in the coming days.
The prominent speakers in the meeting were namely Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak (President Dogra Saddar Sabha), Karan Wazir (Chairman, Transport), Narain Singh representing J&K Rajput Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma (President Brahman Sabha).
Besides all the office bearers namely Baldev Singh, Vice President, Pardeep Majotra, General Secretary, Anshu Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Rahul Aggarwal, Treasurer, besides many senior & young lawyers participated in the meeting.
JKHCBAJ appealed to the Centre/UT Govt of Jammu and Kashmir to provide necessary help to the victims and other people of border areas.
