JKFA yet to finalise format of State meet
SPORTS REPORTER
JAMMU: After change in the earlier proposed
divisional level competition of the State Championship, the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) was yet to finalise the format of the important event. As per the reliable sources, the clubs from Jammu had resented participation of professional side of J&K Bank and departmental team of J and K Police from Jammu (both the clubs are otherwise registered with DFA Srinagar).
With the result, the JKFA was forced to again give a thought to the competition format. “Now, the JKFA is looking into the possibilities of holding the State meet at zonal level because the State football has already been divided into four zones with as many vice presidents. A final decision is yet to be taken by the association,” informed sources told.
Important to mention here that the State Sports Council has, this time, curtailed the grant-in-aid for the State Championship from Rs eight lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh thus forcing the sports body to change the format of the competition.
