JAMMU: The Executive Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir DP Front 1947, 1965, 1971 appealed to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal to register the unregistered families and provide them full amount of the final financial package announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A large number of Displaced Persons (DPs) including women activists led by refugee leader Rachhpal Singh Chib, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DP Front-1947, 65 and 71 assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club and held protest in support of their pending demands.
Speaking on the occasion, Rachhpal alleged that Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu was causing hurdles in the process of implementation of financial package sanctioned by Govt of India in August, 2000.
He said the PRO had initiated the process of providing compensation against deficiency of land during October 2013 but no notification was issued in this regard asking DPs to submit their claims.
He demanded that the left out DP families be registered without any delay, ownership rights be given to all the DPs of 1947, 65 and 71 residing in Kathua, Samba, Jammu and other parts of the region.
He also appealed to displaced persons to prepare their documents for claiming their share of the financial package which the Central and State Governments have decided to disburse at the earliest.
“As experienced in the past, claims of thousands of families get rejected because of lack of proper documents required to enable them to receive their claims,” he said.
He informed that the front will organise awareness camp to make the displaced persons aware at different area of Jammu division.
The camp at Jammu will be held on 7th, 9th and 10th January, at Akhnoor on 11th , 12th and 15th January, at R S Pura on 17 and 19th January, at Bishnah on 20th and 21st January, at Kathua on 22nd and 23rd January, at Hiranagar on 25th January and at Rajouri, Nowshera and Sunderbani on 26th , 27th and 28th January respectively.
