JKBOSE launches open schooling for dropouts, elder

J&K State BOSE Conducts Program on State Open Schooling

LEH: The J and K State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has launched Open Schooling for school dropouts, older persons in employment to enhance their chances of promotion, disadvantaged groups, failures from the formal system of education from the Divisional Offices located at Rehari Colony, Jammu and Old Campus, Lai Mandi, Srinagar.
This facility at first instance is available for class 10th this year through a network of 38 selected Government Institutions.
In this connection a three days interaction/orientation programme of heads of the institutions, SOS coordinators and teachers of accredited centers located in two districts of Ladakh region viz District Leh and District Kargil was conducted at DIET, Leh. A total of 40 participants took part in orientation programme.
Nodal Officer, JK SOS, Dr. Yasir Hamid Sirwal inspired the participants with the mission, objectives and functions of State Open Schooling.
He stressed upon the mission taken by JKBOSE to initiate Open Learning System to augment opportunities for further education, democratise education and make it a life-long process thereby help tens of thousands of students who have dropped out of the formal or those who cannot attend a regular institution.
Prof. Renu Nanda and Dr. S.K Panda from University of Jammu were the Resource Persons for the said programme who deliberated and trained the participants regarding various activities such as self learning study materials, counseling sessions, student support services, tutor marked assignments, maintenance of various records and usage of media in open schooling.
On the valedictory function various participants from districts of Leh and Kargil also spoke on this occasion and thanked J and K State BOSE for taking fruitful initiative for the student community. With photo
