JKBOSE 12TH CLASS RESULT: Girls outshine boys again; top all four streams Muskan Bhan and Vijay Lakshmi share 1st position in Science

JAMMU: Girls outshined boys by securing top slots in all the disciplines of crucial 12th class, results of which were declared by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Tuesday. Of 101 positions in Science, Arts, Commerce and Home Sciences, girls got 67 slots.
Interestingly, the toppers come mostly from private schools. Of the 101 positions, private schools claimed 71 slots while the remaining 30 went to the government schools, despite having ‘highly qualified’ staff.
In Science stream, Muskan Bhan of St Xavier Convent Higher Secondary School, Barnai and Vijay Lakshmi of Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, jointly secured first position with 489 marks (97.8 per cent) each.
Second position was secured by Prabh Simran Kour of Christ Higher Secondary School, Poonch with 486 marks (97.2 per cent) while Ayushman Bandral of Vijay Higher Secondary School, Udhampur and Sahil Sharma of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Jeevan Nagar jointly secured third position with 485 marks (97 per cent) each.
In Home Science discipline, Iqra Banoo, Pragati Jain and Pooja Sharma of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi secured first, second and third position with 363 (72.6 per cent), 329 (65.8 per cent) and 322 (64.4 per cent) marks respectively.
Chetna of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Jeevan Nagar secured first position with 477 marks (95.8 per cent) in Arts stream while Palak Gupta of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Jeevan Nagar secured first position with 484 marks (96.8 per cent) in Commerce stream.
Second and third positions in Arts stream were secured by Syed Aisha Mushtaq of Global Convent Higher Secondary School, Channi Rama and Shriya Aggarwal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi with 476 (95.2 per cent) and 474 (94.8 per cent) marks respectively.
Damandeep Singh of Mother  India Higher Secondary School, R.S Pura and Shivani Verma of Oriental Academy, Afghan Mohalla, Jammu secured second and third positions in Commerce stream with 482 (96.4 per cent) and 479 (95.8 per cent) marks.
As many as 42,234 students had appeared in the examination and of these, 20,849 were qualified with overall pass percentage of 49 per cent.
The first 10 positions in Science stream were shared by 63 students- 38 of them girls while in Commerce; the first 10 positions were shared by 11 students, including nine girls.
Fourteen students, 11 of them girls, shared the first 10 positions in Arts stream, while in Home Science, seven girls shared the first 10 positions.
Of the total students, 5,681 got distinction, while 8,311, 6,083 and 774 secured first, second and third divisions respectively.
Topper students credited their teachers and parents for the success, anticipating that they want to shine in every sphere of life.
Umabhia Saleem, daughter of Saleem Ahmed and Parveen Qureshi, resident of Shahdra Sharief and the student of Panorama Higher Secondary School , Rajouri brought laurels for the district Rajouri by securing fourth position in the State having 96.40 per cent marks. Umabhia maintained her consistency as earlier in 10th standard she got 96.80 per cent
