JKAACL organizes literary tribute to Sarvanand Koul 1STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organised literary tributes to late Sarvanand Koul Premi, an eminent poet, writer, scholar and social activist at KL Saigal Hall, here on Friday.

Minister of State, (Independent charge) Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister’s office, Dr. Jitendra Singh was the Chief Guest and MLA, Jammu West, Sat Sharma was the Guest of Honour.

Swami Kumar, Rajinder Premi and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present in the presidium.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jitendra said that Swami Sarvanand Koul has contributed a lot for the promotion of communal amity, harmony and brotherhood in Kashmir.

While paying tributes, he said that as a poet and writer, Koul contributed in the field of Kashmiri, Urdu, English and Hindi literature and spread the message of national integration, patriotism and humanity.

He further said that the community concerned with late Sarvanand Koul Premi in particular and society in general should follow the messages of the great writer with conviction and courage.

Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished guests and the gathering, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that Sarvanand Koul Premi was not only a reputed writer and journalist but a prominent philanthropist and translator also. He translated Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, Ramayana, Tagore’s world famous Geetanjali and Russian folk tales into Kashmiri.

A floral tribute was also paid by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Sat Sharma, Rajinder Premi, son of late Sarvanand Koul Premi, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn and other dignitaries present in the Hall.

P.N Shad and Pran Pandit, prominent scholars and writers of Kashmiri and Urdu language presented their papers on life and works of Sarvanand Koul Premi highlighting his multi-faceted personality.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Anil Tickoo, Asstt. Cultural Officer and vote of thanks was presented by Rajinder Tickoo Premi.

A musical tribute was also paid by presenting Shaloks from Bhagwat Geeta by Swami Kumar Ji and Bhajans from Ravi Bhan, Shweta Saproo, Monika Sharma, Neha and Shiv.

Rajiv on Tabla and Rajat on Synth were the accompanists. The programme was composed by Ravi Bhan.

Among others present there include G.R Hasrat Gadda, Ashwani Charangoo, J.L Saroori, Dr. Rajinder Tickoo, A.K Naaz and Avtar Hugami.
