JAMMU: Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, Anjali Sharma on Thursday inaugurated the 5th and 6th Photography Exhibition organised by the J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at Kala Kendra, Jammu and also presented the awards for fifth and sixth best Photography for the years 2014 and 15.
Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL were also present on the dias.
Anjali Sharma congratulated the award
winners and appreciated the creative work done by the participants during these two years.
She further expressed that such awards play an important role for the encouragement of the important creative activity like photography which with the presence of their wisdom they portray the social issues through such medium.
Dr. Aziz said that academy is trying its level best to deliver best and also sought co-operation of fraternities of art, culture and languages.
Those who were given best photography award for the year 2013-14 were Anand Sharma (first), Adnan Ali Zahidani (second) and Arshed Hussain (third). The four consolation prizes were clinched by Syed Hamza, Choudhary Sunder , Surjeet Singh and Tumul Magotra.
Similarly the first three top positions for the Sixth Photography Exhibition 2014-15 went in favour of Satish Chalotra (first) Amrit Kaur (second) and M. Akram Khan (third) whereas the consolation prize were captured by O.P Sharma, Pankaj Kumar and Parveen Kumar. The amount of the first, second, third prizes and consolation were Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively.
Dr. Amn presented vote of thanks and proceedings of the programme were conducted by Anil Tickoo, Assistant Cultural Officer of the Academy.
