JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Tennis Ball Cricket Association has finalized the teams for the upcoming 32nd Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship (Under 19 Boys & Girls), which will take place from October 17 to 20, 2024, in Sonipat, Haryana.
The selection trials for this event were held on October 6 and 7 at Greenfield Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Following the trials, a coaching camp was conducted from October 8 to 14 to prepare the selected players.
On October 15, the screening committee, chaired by the Divisional Sports Officer of Jammu, finalized the selections for both teams.
The boys’ team is led by captain Shakir Riyaz and includes players such as Vijay Choudhary, Shazan Nabi, Saqib Iqbal, Mujtaba Hassan, Akash Bilal, Zubair Fayaz, Soman Nabi, Liyaqat Yousuf, Hamdaan, Vihaan Gadoo, Aaqib Majeed, Mozin Mujtaba, Saqib Ashraf, Vijay Choudhary, Shazan Nabi, and Saqib Iqbal.
The girls’ team is captained by Ronak Jahan and features talented players like Gowsia, Rimsha, Qurat ul Ain, Maheena, Sania, Shumila, Subreena, Samia, Suhana, Suzain Asgar, Niharika, Mahnoora and Sumiya.
The coaching staff, Mahir Rasool and Danishta Akhter, will guide the teams as they prepare for the championship.
The players will depart for Sonipat today by train, with the expectation of returning on October 20.
The selection process was based on the athletes’ performances during the pre-national coaching camp, ensuring that only the best representatives from Jammu and Kashmir will compete in the tournament.
