‘Earth without ozone is like a house without a roof’

JAMMU: World Ozone Day is observed on September 16 every year to spread awareness about the depletion of the Ozone layer and finding possible solutions to preserve it.
To spread awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and to highlight the need to protect this fragile shield of gas, the students of JK Public School Panjtirthi sensitised the audience about the consequences of Ozone depletion.
Meenu, the incharge of celebration, commenced the celebration and added “We shall make all efforts to restrict and control the emission of Ozone Depleting Substances to the atmosphere and protect and save all forms of life on Earth. We all must take a pledge to protect Mother Earth, save ourselves and protect and conserve the natural resources for future generations.”
On the occasion a science exhibition was organised to help the students to understand the theoretical facts better and stay updated with the current developments through hands-on practical experiments and scientific projects. Jakiians exhibited beautiful working models and science Projects.
Some of the common themes addressed and explored through the science fair were Environmental issues – climate change, pollution; Biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability; Life sciences, astronomy, and medicine; Alternative green energy or bio-fuel; Information and communication technology; Mathematics, chemical, and physical sciences; and Scientific applications in sports and music.
All the classes joined the science fair consecutively where students and teachers enjoyed the interactive session. The Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi Suman Banbah expressed, “Science exhibitions not only stimulate a keen interest in science but also provide subtle avenues for developing wholesome thinking and reasoning attributes through experiments, innovations, ideas, and discoveries.”
She further rewarded all the participants of science exhibition with cash prizes for their outstanding and innovative ideas.
