JAMMU: Illiteracy is one of the stumbling blocks to progress. The ability to read and write gives individuals greater strength to deal with the world and greater access to information.
JK Public School Panjtirthi celebrated World Literacy Day to highlight the significance of literacy, dignity and human rights.
Kiran Gupta, teacher of JKPS Panjtirthi anchored the programme and said, “As we need food to live,we need literacy for social and personal development.”
To show the joy of learning and fulfill the mission of literacy, a skit was organised which not only brought smiles to many faces but also was helpful in inculcating the moral values such as generosity, caring, sharing, etc.
A plethora of activities were held to polish their reading and writing skills.
The Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi, Suman Banbah lauded the theme of international literacy Day 2022 – “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”.
She further added, “Literacy is an essential tool to eliminate poverty, lowering child mortality, population control, and attain gender equality. Literacy not only enriches an individual’s life, but it creates opportunities for people to develop life skills. “
The winners of the questionnaire round of Literacy Day were awarded by the Principal.
