JAMMU: The Senior Citizens Club Chowadi hosted a vibrant Dogri Folk Dance Competition that showcased the rich cultural heritage of Jammu.
In a spirited event that saw participation from ten prestigious schools from Jammu region, JK Public School Kunjwani emerged as the proud recipient of the second place award, demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication.
The winners were Aarushi Mehra, Gunvika Sharma, Harleen Kour, Aaradhya Sharma, Aaradhya Bhagat, Pihu Sharma, Shwantanshi Sharma, Harshita Gupta, Suhani Sharma and Kriti Mehra.
The aim of this competition was to promote local culture through folk dance, engaging students in an artistic expression that is rooted in their traditions. Students of JK Public School Kunjwani brought their best to the stage, displaying a colorful array of costumes and lively performances that captivated the audience.
They made a remarkable impression with their performance, characterized by intricate choreography and enthusiastic participation.
The choreography of the dance was marked by its graceful, circular movements, where dancers moved in sync with the beats of the music. The steps were spirited yet elegant, focusing on footwork and body sways, symbolizing the harmony between nature and the human spirit. There was a noticeable sense of coordination and unity among the dancers, which proved to be a hallmark of Dogri folk dance.
The energy of the dancers increased as the performance progressed, with the tempo of the music gradually picking up. The performers, particularly the girls, often twirled gracefully, their ghaaghraas fanning out in colorful waves. The audience was deeply captivated, clapping along with the beats and cheering for the performers.
The audience responded enthusiastically to the performance. Both young and old attendees were seen enjoying the rhythmic beats, and many were visibly moved by the nostalgic tunes and the cultural pride displayed on stage.
Shashi Chaudhary, Director JK Educational Society and School Principal Rajesh Rathore extend their heartfelt congratulations to the winners and lauded the dance teacher Rakesh Kumar for this exceptional achievement.
