JAMMU: Red Cross Day was celebrated at JK Public School, Kunjwani to pay tribute to the members and volunteers of the organization, who contribute to humanitarian work across the globe.
World Red Cross Day and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the JK Public School, Kunjwani.
The humanitarian organization provides shelter and help to families and communities, who try to get back on their feet after any disaster.
In the morning assembly, students were imparted information on this special day and the reason why it is celebrated worldwide.
Principal, Rajesh Rathore apprised students that this day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of International Committee of Red Cross.
He laid emphasis on the importance of charity and quoted Albert Einstein, “the real success of an individual lies in giving more to the society than taking from it”.
He applauded the charity work of Red Cross Society and said, “Wherever there is a crisis, there is a Red Cross or Red Crescent volunteer ready to support the people affected, and ensure they recover quickly and can live with greater resilience and dignity. Their commitment never wavers, and their compassion has no limits”.
“On this World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we pay tribute to the millions of volunteers, members and staff who work every day to prevent and alleviate human suffering all over the world. They work on the front line of every crisis, often in difficult circumstances and at risk to their own safety. They deserve our deep gratitude”, added the Principal.
He concluded by quoting the example of greatest philanthropist of the world, namely, Warren Buffet with a donation of $44 bn to Melinda Gates Foundation.
He appreciated all the eminent personalities for being associated with various charity organization. At the end, he invoked children to be extremely successful in life and extend their best support to the poor and downtrodden people.
