JK Public School celebrates Lohri with fanfare

JAMMU: Lohri was celebrated at JK Public School with a lot of exuberance and fanfare. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri.
The function started with a speech highlighting the importance of the festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the winters.
The students of Primary Wing presented a colourful dance on Punjabi Boliyaan.
The students and teachers sang songs immersed in rich cultural folklore. Students of Toddlers’ World were dressed in beautiful attires. Various activities were arranged for them in their wing to make them understand the importance of this festival.
A bonfire was lit in the school playground bringing everyone together to celebrate this auspicious day.
Sara Daluja, Member of the Managing Committee and Brig. Sukhdev Singh, Director JK Educational Society presided over the celebration and distributed groundnuts, popcorn and Gachak (Chikki) among the students, which is a traditional practice.
Principal, S.K Singh greeted the JKIIANS and encouraged them to value their cultural heritage. He said that this festival prompts all of us to be thankful for God’s provisions and to celebrate his creations.
