JK Public School bags U-17 football title

J.K.JAMMU:  The JK Public School won the under-17 boys’ title in inter-school football tournament of Jammu District held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at GGM Science College ground, here on Saturday.

In the final played today, JK Public outplayed BSF School Paloura by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Imran.

Earlier, JK Public School defeated Army Public School (APS) Domana by 2-0 in first round, St Francis by 4-1 in second round, KC International by 4-0 in quarter final and Delhi Public School (DPS) by 2-1 in semi-final. Highest scorer of the team was Digvijay followed by Vildan, Akeel, Manik and Imran.

Principal of the school, S.K Singh congratulated and appreciated the hard work of football coach Vikram Thakur and his team. He said, this is just a beginning and there are many more victories to come.

Meanwhile, the under-14 boys’ final won by MHAC Nagbani, who defeated KC Public School 1-0. Arun scored the all important goal.

The finals were officiated by the technical panel including Rakesh Kakkar, Ajay Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Rohit Gupta, Gurbachan Singh, Mahadev Singh, Jyoti, Satinder Singh and Ravinder Singh.

Earlier, the under-17 final witnessed besides others by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Border Security Force (BSF), S.N Metha, who Chief Guest. He interacted with the teams and encouraged those upcoming young footballers.

Among those present were District officer, Sukhdev Raj, Principal of JK Public School, S.K Singh and other Physical Education Teachers (PETs) and Physical Education Masters (PEMs).
