JAMMU: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday asked people of Jammu and Kashmir to keep national interest in mind while casting their vote.
Addressing an election meeting, Chugh condemned the NC and Congress manifesto for their promise to bring back Articles 370 and 35A, remove the PSA Act, and release terrorists. He criticised them for speaking of removing reservations for SC, ST, OBC, Pahadi, Gujjar, and Bakharwal communities.
Chugh said, “Gujjar, Bakharwal, Valmiki, and Pahadi children will become doctors and engineers, while the Abdullahs and Gandhis speak of taking away the rights given by the BJP government by withdrawing reservations,”
Referring to the Pakistani Defense Minister’s comments on supporting the NC, Congress manifesto, Chugh said, “On what right are these NC and Congress parties asking for votes from the people of J&K? Remember, these are the same people who spoke of autonomy and separating J&K from the country.
They ousted Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. Today, NC, Congress enjoy support from Pakistan”.
He expressed anguish over how Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave Kashmir amid violence when Farooq Abdullah was Chief Minister.
Chugh said, “NC leaders speak of repeating 1990. We have to carefully make a decision and keep these forces from being elected. This is a battle of ballots and a battle for democracy. We must keep defeat them.”
Chugh said “Pakistan is a factory of terrorism, and Farooq Abdullah insists on talking to Pakistan.
This is Narendra Modi’s government, which has zero tolerance for terrorism. Anyone looking at India, we are not going to keep quiet.
We have enemies within in the form of divisive leaders like Farooq Abdullah who advocate for and on behalf of Pakistan. This will not work anymore.”
Chugh strongly criticised the NC for mentioning changing the names of “Hari Parbat and Adi Shankaracharya Hill” in their manifesto.
He also slammed the PDP for their opportunistic politics and making the people of J&K scapegoats for their vote bank politics, recollecting the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Home Minister. “This fight is not just today’s fight; it is a long-standing fight from the time of Premnath Dogra,” he added.
Chugh said, “This fight is about nationalism and our motherland. We need to save our country from people who want to see our nation broken into pieces. NC and Congress share the dais with people speaking of making our country in to pieces. We need to bury their agenda and aspirations.”
