JAMMU: President, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri on Saturday appealed to parliamentarians of Jammu and Kashmir to raise issue of regularisation of nearly 61,000 daily rated workers working in the various departments of the State Government in coming monsoon session of Parliament starting from 18th July.
Shastri issued an appeal to these parliamentarians to raise the issue of granting of special package to the tune of Rs 9,000 cores to ward off expenses on account of regularisation and implementation of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations in Jammu and Kashmir also.
Shastri, while highlighting these issue in a rally of NMC activists at Gandhi Nagar, suggested that a delegation of parliamentarians from Jammu and Kashmir should visit Prime Minister residence to draw home the point besides Union Finance Minister.
Shastri reminded these parliamentarians and representatives that these daily rated workers, nearly 4,50,000 State Government employees and 1,00,000 pensioners gave a clear mandate on this and other issues which paved the way for them to get elected to Parliament. They should not ignore these sentiments.
The workers and employee constituency commands nearly 80 per cent of the total electorate, he added.
Shastri also pleaded the cause of both Centre as well as State Government employees and pensioners.
Demanding at least 8 per cent DA due from 1st July, 2016 to be released in view of pending implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, Shastri also suggested that till the process of regularisation gets completed, separate wage heads be created for early settlement of their claims and salaries as presently they are left without salaries for months together.
Justifying the demand of clerical cadre to remove all inter cadre anomalies, Shastri expressed dismay over the continued procrastination by the high ups in the establishment over this issue.
“The Finance Minister should personally intervene and settle this issue,” Shastri said.
