J&K gymnasts win 12 medals in nationals

JAMMU: J&K gymnasts established their supremacy yet again at the national level and returned with a rich haul of 12 medals including two gold, four silver and six bronze from the 62nd National School Games Gymnastics Championships held at Rai, Sonepat, Haryana between 6th and 10th January, 2017. The highlight of the J and K performance was a record haul of five medals by Bavleen Kaur and three medals by Stuti Gupta in the under-17 year category.
Bavleen of J and K made her supremacy by winning five medals including two individual golds in Hoop and Rope events, silver in Individual All Round, bronze in Ball event with silver in Team competition whereas in the same age group Stuti Gupta of J and K won individual silver in Ball and bronze in clubs event with silver in Team competition.
In same age group, Nandani Lakhotra of J and K also won individual bronze in Hoop event.
The team under-17 years comprised of Bavleen Kaur, Stuti Gupta, Nandini Lakhotra and Vandhana won silver medal in Team championships. Maharashtra team won gold medal in this age group.
In the Under-19 years, J and K team comprising Sneha Dewan, Tawishi, Tanu Blowria and Maithali Meghul won silver medal in the Team championships. Maharashtra team won gold in this age group.
Besides, Sneha Dewan won two individual bronze medals in All Round and Ball events and Tawishi won one individual bronze medal in Ribbon event in this age group.
