J&K Govt announces annual Republic Day 2024 awards

JAMMU: The Government on Wednesday announced the conferment of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Awards, 2024. These awards are conferred each year on the eve of Republic Day in recognition of contributions made by outstanding achievers in different fields viz; Achievements in the field of Literature, performing Art, excellence in Art & Crafts, Social Reforms and Empowerment, Meritorious Public Service, Lifetime Achievement in any other field, Award for Outstanding Sports Persons, Outstanding Media Persons and Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.
This year, the government has conferred the award in the category of bravery to Late HC Abdul Majeed (posthumously), son of Mohd Rashid, resident of Village Ajote, Tehsil Haveli, District Poonch.
In the field of Literature, the Jammu and Kashmir Government Award, 2024 have been conferred on Mohan Singh (Dogri Writer), Mansha Khaki (Gojri Writer), Inderjeet Kesar (Retd. JKAS) (Dogri Writer) and Brij Nath Pandit “Betab”.
The award in the category of Performing Arts has been conferred to Gulzar Ganaie (Film/Television Actor), Kartar Chand (Pahari Singer), Pawan Verma (Theatre Artist), Dr. Kuldeep Raina (Actor/Director) and Munir Ahmad Mir (Vocalist & Music Composer).
Neelam Rani (Basohli Pashmina Weaver), Sonam Jamwal (Basohli Painting), K. K. Gandhi (Art), and Riyaz Ahmad Khan (Art, Craft-Papier Mache) have been conferred with award for Excellence in Arts & Crafts.
J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides, Rohit Sharma (Shastri), son of Radha Krishan, resident of Village Raipur, Bantalab, Jammu and Sandhya Dhar, care of Jammu Institute of General Education & Rehabilitation have been conferred with award for Social Reforms & Empowerment. Award for Meritorious Public Service have been conferred to Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department and Rahul Singh, IFS, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. Award for Lifetime Achievements has been conferred to S.P Varma.
Sheetal Devi (Para Archery), Falail Sinqh, HC (Mountaineer), Amir Ahmad Bhat (Para Shooting), Rakshinda Mehak (Deaf Judo), Abdul Salha Sher Gujri (Football), Suvidha Sarin (Roll Ball), Sajad Hussain Parray (Football), Villayat Hussain (Kayaking & Canoeing), Kyran Gupta (Roller Skating), Aneesha Sharma (Rifle Shooting) have been conferred with the Award for Outstanding Sports Persons.
Faza Zainab, Editor-in Chief, Asian News Hub, Sameer Bhatt, Chief Correspondent, News 18 Urdu, Gursimran Singh, Sr. Correspondent, Republic TV, Danish Manzoor Bhat, Editor South Asia, Newsweek Magazine, Ajay Jandyal, Bureau Chief, News X, India News, and Vishal Bharti, Bureau Head, UNI, Jammu have been conferred with the Award in the category of Outstanding Media Persons.
