J&K Forests wins State soccer

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Forests XI clinched the 23rd State Football Championship outplaying the first-timer in the title clash and the professional club, Lone Star Kashmir by two goals to nil in the final played at GGM Science College Ground, here on Thursday.
After witnessing barren first half, the experienced and aggressive side of J and K Forests took the first lead with Ubaid netting the ball in the 60th minute of the play. Forests doubled the lead when Asrar intruded into the strong defence line of Lone Star beating the goal-keeper in the 70th minute of the play.
The well contested final was enjoyed by the healthy crowd gathered to witness the interesting game.
In the final and title clash, Chairman Pollution Control Board, Suresh Chug was Chief Guest, who gave away the prizes.
