J&K considers as one of favourite teams of championship, wins opening matches

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir dominated the opening day by winning inaugural matches on both boys and girls sections in the 31st Junior National Tennisball Cricket Championship, commenced at Sports Ground, University of Jammu, here on Monday.
In boys section, J&K outplayed Pondicherry by 47 runs.
J&K, batting first after winning the toss, set a target of 91 runs in the allotted eight overs. Adil was the top scorer with 30 runs off 20 balls while Mushraff contributed valuable 22 runs. While chasing the target,
In reply, Pondicherry team failed to chase the target and managed to score only 44 runs for the loss of ten wickets.
Adil, with his tight line and length, grabbed two wickets conceding 15 runs. For the all-round performance, Adil was declared as the Man of the Match.
Delhi, Goa and Tamil Nadu also won their matches in the boys category on first day.
J&K girls defeated Tamil Nadu by a huge margin of 90 runs in the opening match.
Batting first after winning the toss, J&K girls scored 124 runs in the allotted eight overs at an average of 15.5 runs per over. Gousiya, Captain J&K team, played a brilliant inning of 46 runs while Mahina added 30 runs to the total.
The Tamil Nadu girls were failed to chase the target and managed to score only 34 runs for the loss of ten wickets, courtesy top quality bowling of J&K team. Aneesa and Midhat were the main wicket takers for J&K with two wickets each.
J&K is considered as one of the favourite teams of Championship.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by the chief guest, Sanjeev Gadkar, Secretary Health Department.
In his address, Sanjeev Gadkar praised all players for their participation in the championship and said that participation will bestow countless benefits to all participants.
He further lauded office bearers of Tennisball Federation of India for organizing colourful event.
In the championship, almost 21 state teams in both boys and girls categories are participating. Almost 800 players across the country are participating in the championship with zest and zeal. The Championship will be culminated on November 30, 2023.
