J&K colleges to go cashless soon

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said all state-run colleges will soon go cashless and digital learning programmes will be introduced for students in the campuses to facilitate the digital transaction project.
“(The move) will provide a single unified credential for all transactions and privileges across the campus besides ensuring seamless and cashless business with greater efficiency and accuracy,” Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Asgar Hassan Samoon said at a review meeting here.
Samoon was speaking at a review meeting of the department held here today which was attended by Nithi Gupta Special Secretary Higher Education, Abdul Majeed Dar Joint Director Planning Higher Education, Director NIELT A H Moon, SE R&B Jammu, General Manager JKPCC and others officers of the department besides principal of state colleges through video conferencing facility.
To achieve the cashless campuses project, Dr Samoon asked the officers to form a committee of computer professors who will be given orientation courses by experts of NIELT to further carry out programmes of computer literacy in the colleges.In this regard, one day programme of computer literacy sensitization will be conducted for College Principals of Jammu region here.
Later, a similar programme will be conducted for Principals of Kashmir division.
Dr Asghar Samoon took a detailed review of the developmental works going in colleges of Jammu and Kashmir divisions. He also directed the JKPCC and R&B Department to pace up the college constructions works undertaken by them. The Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the Principals to submit the APIs of professors in time bound manner.
