J&K civilisation origin of martial art: Renzushah

SRINAGAR: Taekwondo Championship, organised by J and K Taekwondo Association in memory of late Farooq Ahmad Mir and late Vishal Sharma at Islamia College of Science and Commerce, concluded here on Monday.
In the valedictory ceremony, Chief Guest, Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, Chairman Kashmir Society and Chief Commissioner Scouts gave away the prizes to winners.
Renzushah said that, “The origin of martial art started in Kashmir in 13th and 14th century and spread to other parts of the world including China.” Renzushah said adding that at that time Kashmir was spread up to Kashgar and martial art was popular among the people of Kashmir.
Renzushah advised youth to participate in such events with full zeal and devotion.
Office bearers of the Taekwondo foundation underscored the contribution of Renzushah as Commissioner Scouts in promoting martial art, particularly Taekwondo.
Director Physical Education Islamia College, Altaf Ahmad, Vice President Taekwondo Association, Prof Nisar Ahmad, Maqsood and Naqshbandi were also present.
