JAMMU: The J&K Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated its 74th Foundation Day.
The celebrations began with flag hoisting ceremony at ICAI Bhawan, Canal Road, here which was followed by blood donation camp in collaboration with the Department of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology, GMC Jammu in which large number of Chartered Accountants members as well as students donated blood.
A free Health Checkup Camp along with a Ayurvedic Medical Checkup was also organized by O-Lab Diagnostic Centre & Path Lab and Ayushkamiya Ayurvediya Panchkarma Chakitsalya respectively.
Thereafter an interaction session followed by lunch with Orphan Age Kids of Borderless World Foundation was also organized.
Former Cabinet Minister, Sat Sharma, while attending the function, greeted the participants on CA Day and lauded the role of chartered accountants in nation building. He also applauded the J&K Branch for celebrating a CA Week Day in which various activities were under taken such as Financial Literacy Camp, Yoga Day, Padyatra cum Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Manda, Indoor Games Championship, Blood Donation, Health Checkup and Ayurvedic Camp.
In the evening, a seminar on critical issues in GST by speaker CA Rajinder Arora was organized, followed by the felicitation of newly qualified Chartered Accountants from Jammu Region. The Chief Guest for the event was Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Avny Lavasa.
Speaking on the occasion, Avny congratulated the CA fraternity and appreciated the role played by CA professionals as pillars of the society which always worked for the upliftment of country.
CA Nakul Saraf, Chairman of J&K Branch of ICAI, in his inaugural address welcomed emphasized on the importance of the CA Day.
He also urged the members to once again pledge their allegiance to the great CA profession and rededicate themselves to its services as well as the lofty ideals put forth by those who have went before them.
During the program, Late CAR.C. Gupta Memorial award, Late Smt. Sudesh Sawhney Memorial Award, Late Sh. Omesh Gupta Memorial Award, Late Sh. Vinod Gupta Memorial Award, Late Sh. G.D Gupta Memorial Award, and Late Sh. Om Prakash Gupta & Smt. Indu Gupta Memorial Awards were presented to the meritorious students of CA Final examination during 2020 and 2021.
CA Vineet Kohli, Secretary J&K Branch of ICAI, conducted the proceedings.
CA Vikas Purdhani, (Vice Chairman), CA Ayush Sawhney (Treasurer) and CA Sourav Pargal (Executive Member) along with a large number of Chartered Accountants, students and their families took part in the celebrations.
