J&K beat Uttrakhand in Santosh Trophy

JAMMU: After holding Haryana to 1-1 draw in the first outing previous day, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday registered a solitary goal win against Uttrakhand to keep their hopes alive in the ongoing North Zone Senior National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at different venues of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
As per the reports reaching here, J and K got a good number of chances in the second half of the play to improve their score but could not break the strong defence line of Uttrakhand.
Earlier, J and K took an early lead when Hanan Mir successfully converted a penalty into goal in the 10th minute of the game. The forward line remained aggressive in rest of the first half too but without any more success.
The side maintained the momentum, playing aggressively, after the drinks break, but result eluded them.
Now, with a win and draw to their credit, J and K looks forward to take on the mighty Punjab in the next league game. In fact, both J and K and Punjab will enter the field eying on a win to qualify for the knock-out stages.
