J&K boy wins Asian Karate Championship;Governor, Edu Minister congratulate Mansoor

JAMMU: Governor N.N Vohra and Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar have congratulated seven-year old Mansoor Hashim who won a gold medal in Asian Youth Karate Championship by beating his Sri Lankan rival at New Delhi. Earlier, Mansoor also defeated his Bhutanese and Malaysian rivals as well.
In a message the Governor has conveyed his greetings and compliments to Mansoor, his parents and Coach Faisal Ali for the young boy’s outstanding performance and wished him high success in the World Karatey Championship which is being held in Europe next year.
“I extend my affectionate felicitations to Hashim Mansoor for his marvelous achievement at such a young age,” Akhtar said in a statement.
He said after 8-year-old Bandipora girl Tajamul Islam’s great feat in the World Kickboxing Championship in Italy earlier this month, Hashim Mansoor’s accomplishment at Asian Youth Karate Championship have made these child prodigies an inspiration for the budding sportspersons of the State.
“It is a moment of special satisfaction for me as these young achievers come from an area which is my native place as well,” the minister said and added that; “I wish great success to these young achievers in future as well.”
Akhtar has also felicitated another Kashmir youth Zahoor Din Lone from Singhpora, Baramulla who has created history by getting his team selected for 27th International Snow Sculpture Championships, representing India for the very first time in any international snow-sculpting event.
The team is scheduled to take part in International Snow Sculpture Championship to be held in Breckenridge, Colorado, United States in January 2017.
7 yr old Bandipora boy wins Asian Karate Championship
Seven-year-old Bandipora boy who represented India at the Asian Youth Karate Championship in New Delhi has won the championship.
7 year old Hashim Mansoor, son of Mansoor Ahmad Shah, resident of Nadihal village in Bandipora District represented India in Sub-Junior category in the championship at Talkatora stadium.
A total of 19 countries are participating in the championship which is being organised by All India Youth Karate Federation.
Hashim has won gold by beating his Sri Lankan rival.
Earlier, Mansoor defeated his Bhutanese and Malaysian rivals as well.
