JD (U) launches membership drive

JAMMU: Janata Dal-United (JD-(U)) on Tuesday launched the party’s membership drive here in Jammu, aiming to enlist secular and youth member of the region into party fold.
Addressing a press conference after launching drive, Afaq Ahmed, All India General Secretary Janata Dal-United said that people of State are feeling cheated by ruling PDP-BJP Coalition Government as their miseries increased manifold after this government came into existence.
“People are searching for an alternative of ruling PDP-BJP as both the parties compromised their core ideology and formed government only for chair while the basic problems of people in Jammu as well as Kashmir remained unattended,” he said.
The central leadership also invoked hallow promises and have nothing to offer to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the people need a better alternative of all the political parties and under the leadership of Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Janata Dal-United JD-(U) is best for State.
State President, G.M Shaheen praised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for banning alcohol in the State and said that liquor is main instrument behind many crimes and road accidents following the example of Bihar and Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir State should also ban liquor in the State.
The JDU leader further said that in Jammu and Kashmir party enrolled people with its two main agenda. i.e. overall development of the State which is ignored by all successive political parties and complete ban on alcohol in the State like in Gujarat and Bihar.
