Jawan found dead, people stage protest

AKHNOOR: The recovery of a jawan’s body near his house in Akhnoor saw protest with people demanding enquiry into his death.
The villagers blocked the highway for several hours. Jawan was identified as Sunny Sharma (27 Punjab) resident of Sua No. 1 under the jurisdiction of Station House Officer (SHO) Kana Chak.
According to his sisters Madhu Sharma, Rani Sharma, Anu Sharma, their brother came home on Saturday after taking leave from his unit and reached at 8:00 PM.
They said , “Anjali Devi wife of Sunny contacted Police Station Kanachak and said that Sunny died in an accident which was totally wrong.
They said that Anjali and Sunny had solemnized a love marriage about year and half back but couple had lots of problems.
On the receipt of information about the protest, SHO Kanachack reached the spot along with a police team and pacified the protesters. Police also sent the body to Govt. Medical College and Hospital Jammu for autopsy and registered the case for further enquiry.
