SAMBA: Police on Saturday arrested a soldier for killing his colleague last year inside an army barrack in Samba district.
As per details, under guidance of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, police solved mysterious killing case of army soldier, converted inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC into murder case under section 302 of IPC, arrested accused and seized weapon of offence, i.e., an AK-47 rifle.
As per case, on May 20, 2022, inquest proceeding under section 174 of CrPC was initiated by Police Station Samba to ascertain actual cause of death of 21-year old Army Sepoy Pawar Prathamesh of Maharashtra, whose bullet-ridden dead body was found in a pool of blood inside barrack. The inquest proceedings were conducted in highly professional manner taking into consideration all aspects & evidence and closed on merits with registration of FIR 48/2023 under section 302 of IPC at police station Samba. The arrested accused has been identified as Vaidya Khushreang, son of Vikas Gyaniram Vaidya, resident of Maharashtra. SSP Benam Tosh said that inquest under section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure, has been converted into murder case under section 302 of Indian Penal Code and weapon of offence has also been seized by police while further investigation of the case is going on.
