SRINAGAR: A meeting of the Committee on Estimates for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) was held at Legislative Assembly on Wednesday under the chairmanship of MLA, Javid Hassan Beig.
The Legislators, Mubarak Gul, Vikar Rasool Wani, Usman Abdul Majid, Ishfaq Ahmed Sheikh, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Shakti Raj, Dina Nath Bhagat, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Abdul Rahim Rather and Yasir Reshi, who are members of the committee, participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed various issues relating to CAPD Department and gave various suggestions for further improvement of the functioning of the department.
The meeting was informed that the department of CAPD is presently catering to a population of 19.72 lakh families comprising 12.36 lakh APL, 4.80 BPL and 2.56 lakh AAY families in the State through its network of 5,800 ration depots and 4096 K-oil depots.
The meeting was further informed that during current year 5,33,172 tons of rice and 2,23,632 tons of wheat have been received from Government of India for distribution among APL, BPL and AAY consumers.
