Jammu’s Kulbir lifts Sujandhar Dangal title

JAMMU: Wrestler Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal, Jammu lifted the title bout of 1st Sujandhar Dangal defeating Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police and resident of Jindrah in the main contest that took place at Morha Kharkakote in Kotli Lajpat Sugandhar in Reasi.
Kulbir Singh was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 12,000 while runners-up wrestler Rajesh Sharma got Rs. 9,000. Dangal was organized by Youth Dangal Committee Kotli Lajpat Sujandhar in support with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Nasib Singh (chairman), Pyar Singh (president) and Pritam Singh.
The second bout played between wrestler Bablu of J&K Police (resident of Basantgarh) in district Udhampur and Baghu of Kathua ended in a draw after 21 minutes long contest. Both the wrestlers shared a prize money of Rs 18,000.
Madan Singh of Reasi won third main bout outplaying Amit of J&K Police. He (Madan) felicitated with a prize money of Rs 9,000 and Amit got Rs 6,000.
In fourth bout of the dangal, Sanjay of J&K Police defeated Zaker of
Lalian in Punjab to receive Rs 7,000. Zaker presented a prize money of Rs 5,000.
The DDC Chairman Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag was chief guest. He gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers. Former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council and president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Thakur Sohan Singh (a social activist) was the guest of
Honour while Sub Inspector Amit Singh was the special guest. Former Sarpanch
Amar Nath, BJP Bhomag Mandal Pardhan Pawan Singh and social activist
Bhuri Singh were among other prominent present.
In all, 75 bouts decided in the day-long dangal and cash prize worth Rs. 1,80,000 given away to the wrestlers.
The organising committee for this dangal comprised members Nasib Singh (chairman), Pyar Singh (president), Pritam Singh, Bodh Raj, Shambu Nath, Ajit Singh, Ratten Singh, Ashok Singh, Baldev Singh, Prithvi Singh, Nirmal Kumar, Major Singh, Chanchal Singh, Prem Singh, Mohd. Mustaq, Balwan Singh, Harnam Singh, Yash Pal Singh, Sanju, Romal Singh, Omkar Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh and Dalair Singh (Panch).
