JAMMU: Wrestler Ishaaq Ahmed (Laallu) of J&K Police Jammu lifted 4th Talwara Dangal title defeating Manjeet of Haryana in the main bout which was organised by the Dangal Committee Talwara.
The title winner, Ishaaq presented Rs 51,000 prize money while Manjeet received Rs 31,000 from chief guest, Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary of J&K Sports Council (JKSC) and senior vice president of Indian Style Wrestling Federation of India.
Kuldeep Kumar Dubey (Mangu Shah), DDC member Abdul Rashid, Kuldeep Magotra and former Sarpanch Kewal Kumar were guests of honour. Sub Inspector Ravinder Kumar and Sukhdev Singh were among other prominent present. The event held under the overall supervision of Jagdev Singh (president), Aman Raj, Gian Chand and Mohd. Iqbal. The bouts were officiated by Raj Singh, Kartar Singh and Sunny Sharma.
In total, 65 bouts played in this day-long Rs four lakh dangal. The second main bout went to Bholla (Rs 31,000) of Shara Akhara in Haryana beating Rashid (Rs 20,000) of Domana Akhara Jammu. In third bout, Surjit Singh (Rs 15,000) trounced Zakir of Akhara Lalian (Rs 10,000) of Kathua.
The forth bout was won by Nadeem (Doda) of J&K Police who defeated Neeru Gujjar (BSF) of Chandigarh while fifth bout went to Babba of Kot Bhalwal beating Jai Bhagwan of Delhi.
Members of Dangal Committee Talwara who helped the conduct of dangal included Jagdev Singh (president), Numberdar Aman Raj, Gian Chand, Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Farooq, Kartar Singh, Mohd. Saleem, Mohd. Munir, Abdul Gani, Sita Ram, Kuldeep Kumar, Mohd. Razak, Balder Singh and Des Raj.
